71,000 original miles!!
The odometer is in kilometres , not miles, so it reads 114,000 kilometres.

I have every registration for the car dating back to 1968 (organized in a folder), the year after it was imported to the USA from Germany. (The registration has a * YR 67, which makes me think the car was purchased from the dealership in Germany in 1967 even though it's a 1965 model ?) It then lived in Malibu most of its life with the same owner until 1992 when it was dropped off at a mechanics shop in Thousand Oaks. The owner passed away while it was at the shop, and the car sat there from 1992 until 2019 when the shop closed down. They sold all the parts and cars off the lot, and I purchased the car from the guy that bought the cars. So I am the 3rd owner.

It still has the '92 registration sticker on the license plate. Original license plates, everything original. I had most parts rebuilt when I could so they are also original. I kept the car as it looked, with the patina paint, dings and scrapes here and there, and dash board looking as is. I think it looks cool this way and is a time stamp piece. It was the perfect contender to turn into a rally car look-a-like.

In 1968, the car was driven into Mexico for the 1968 Olympics, and the Turista sticker is still in the rear window, along with the matching keychain (as you can see in the photo).

It has been my daily driver for the last 6 months. It runs well but could do with a carburetor tune-up.

It has correct mileage of 114,000. The registration from 1987 states 94,000 miles. Then it sat for 25 years, and when I purchased the car it said 12,000 on the odometer. So it had rolled over once. So I guess I have put about 2,000 kilometres on the car.

Interior has just been redone, and is a beautiful gray-ish oatmeal high quality cloth, to be closer to the original the car had (this car had a cloth interior, which was only in European models). Done by Morro Interiors in Van Nuys. (He also works on Porsche interiors for TRE Motorsports around the corner).

TONS of work has been done to this car in the last two years while I have owned it.
Parts totaling about $7500, and labor totaling about $5000, but I did most of the work myself.

-NEW interior ($2500)
-New rubber inside engine area like crankcase breather hose, air filter boot, hoses and fuel lines, radiator cap.
-New fuel pump, new spark plugs
-Rebuilt Brake Booster and Brake Master Cylinder by White Post Restorations. ($700)
-New brake booster vacuum line.
-All new Brake Hoses purchased from the Mercedes Parts Department. ($250)
-New Rear Wheel Cylinders.
-New Rear Brake Shoes. (Cost $420)
-New tie rods, center link, steering damper.
-New Front and rear Shocks ($500)
-Rebuilt Power Steering Pump and Steering Gear Box by C&M Hydraulics. ($900)
-Re Hosed High Pressure Power Steering Line by Orme Brothers ($115)
-Cleaner set of taillights installed. (Very hard to find - $400)
-New Temperature Gauge installed into instrument cluster. ($400)
-New Automatic Transmission Gear Shift Link Bushing.
-New muffler hangars
-Two pairs of Hella Driving Lamps / Spot Lights, wired into the pull feature of the lights switch, as they should be. ($500)
-Tires are 1 year old.

Has 5 of the rare 14" Aluminum "steelies" wheels that were on 70's coupes. They are the ones with the silver lines in the middle. There is a full-size matching spare in the trunk, also aluminum. I had them painted white to go with the rally theme. ($600)

The only main rust is what you can see behind the front left wheel. And that includes in the corner foot well right behind that. Also inside the trunk in the bottom left where the spare tire would sit. Everywhere else on the car is very solid. And the horns still work! The sunroof works!

Clean title in my name.
