Donovan Richards to host a municipal event in Astoria on Wednesday, the first in a series across the borough

Queens Borough President Donovan Richards is organizing a series of town halls across the borough, with the first scheduled to take place in Astoria on Wednesday.

This Wednesday’s meeting is for residents who live in West Queens, where issues relating to Astoria, Long Island City, Sunnyside, Woodside, Jackson Heights, East Elmhurst, Elmhurst and Corona will be discussed.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens, located at 21-12 30e Rd., And will feature representatives from various city agencies, including the NYPD, NYCHA and Dept. of Sanitation. The town hall starts at 6.30 p.m.

Richards, along with other elected officials and representatives from Community Councils 1, 2, 3 and 4, will be in attendance.

The September 22 Town Hall is co-sponsored by U.S. Representatives Carolyn Maloney and Grace Meng, State Senator Toby Ann Stavisky, Assembly Members Jeffrion Aubry, Brian Barnwell, Catalina Cruz, Jessica González-Rojas and Catherine Nolan. Board members Daniel Dromm and Jimmy Van Bramer are also sponsors, as are Community Boards 1, 2, 3 and 4.

All participants must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or recent negative COVID-19 test results. Masks must be worn at all times during the event.

Those who cannot attend Town Hall in person can watch a live broadcast on QPTV on the Spectrum 1997 channel; RCN channel 85, or Verizon channel 37. The town hall will also be broadcast live on from 6.30 pm.

Richards will be holding more regional town halls next month in South East, North East and South West Queens.
